How do I learn to lead by example?
The leadership unit links behaviour with organisational values.
What does this mean for a new leader?
The workplace leadership unit connects behaviour with organisational values. Leading by example can involve making your actions consistent with the standards you ask others to follow. Reflection is more useful when it concerns a specific action rather than a broad personality label.
How can you prepare or compare?
In an invented scenario, a team leader asks colleagues to report delays promptly. Consider how the leader should report their own delay and what follow-up would help. This is practice only; ask the assessor how behaviour and performance-plan evidence are demonstrated in the course.
What should you compare?
- People and tasks involved
- Required plans, occasions and resources
- Provider support and practical access
What remains unconfirmed?
The national evidence requirement is checked; the provider task design, participants, tools and accepted evidence are not known.
What can you do next?
Pick one behaviour you want to practise.
